The infamous Faux Brick Wall

I laugh when I think about this project. Not because it wasn't a success...quite the opposite, gratefully! The thing is, every time I'd tell someone it wasn't real brick, they'd look at me funny. Even after I had them touch it, they were still confused until I explained in detail that I literally created it over drywall. It was such a success that I repeated this project on a smaller wall over a jacuzzi tub.

The materials I used included dry wall mud, electrical tape, a level, an extended right angle ruler and various paints. Each of the bricks were painted individually to give the wall a realistic look and real tile grout was carefully placed in the dividing gaps between bricks. Faux brick panels were available for purchase online, but I was told by the contractor who worked on this master suite renovation that they would be too heavy for that area. It wasn't cost effective either. This process would have totaled about $4,000 to get enough panels to cover this one wall completely. I put in about two weeks worth of labor and spent roughly $200 on materials!
